About Maria Sandberg

Maria Sandberg brings a powerful combination of financial expertise, strategic insight, and deep Bay Area market knowledge to her real estate practice. With more than 15 years of experience in the investment industry prior to entering real estate, Maria provides her clients with a sophisticated, data-driven perspective when buying or selling one of their most important assets.

Originally from the coastal town of Manzanita, Oregon, Maria attended the University of Oregon, where she studied sociology and business. After graduating, she relocated to San Francisco and spent more than a decade living and working in the city before settling in Marin County in 2012. Having lived in Northern California since 2001, Maria offers her clients a deep understanding of the Bay Area lifestyle, neighborhoods, and market dynamics.

Before transitioning to real estate, Maria built a successful career in the financial sector. She began at Smith Barney, working alongside one of the nation’s top financial advisors serving high-net-worth clients. She later moved into the institutional investment sector, advising corporations, public pension plans, foundations, and endowments. Maria most recently served as Vice President of Global Manager Research at Callan, a global investment consulting firm overseeing more than $3 trillion in assets under advisement.

This extensive financial background provides Maria with a distinct advantage in real estate. Her analytical approach, market research capabilities, and strong negotiation skills allow her to help clients evaluate real estate both as a home and as a long-term investment. She is known for her thoughtful guidance, clear communication, and ability to navigate complex transactions with confidence and discretion.

Maria’s passion for real estate began early, inspired by her grandmother’s career as a REALTOR®. As a teenager, she worked at a local real estate office and developed an appreciation for the impact real estate has on families and communities. Today, she combines that early interest with her financial expertise and commitment to providing a highly personalized client experience.

Deeply connected to her community, Maria serves as an executive member of the board of directors at Good Shepherd Lutheran School, where she actively volunteers in the classroom and supports school programs. Outside of work, Maria enjoys spending time with her husband, Travis, and their two sons, Niko and Aleks. As a dedicated sports mom, she can often be found on the sidelines cheering at soccer, football, baseball, and golf events.
